I figure that since it is the best day ever, it should deserve its own blog post.
The “Best Day Ever” does not come around too often. And, when it does, it usually starts off not-so-best-day-ever.
After waiting with bated breath on the possibility of school being cancelled last night (I seriously ‘refreshed’ the WCCO News page every minute), I woke up to learn that virtually every school state-wide had been cancelled except for the Greenway-Grand Rapids area. Gross. This was followed by the realization that it was “Winter Fun Day” at Van Dyke Elementary School, and I was tasked with one-on-one shadowing of a student when it came time for him to participate in tubing down the snowy hill by the school. This was given further clarification that I was to follow him EVERY SINGLE TIME HE WENT DOWN AND UP THE HILL. Shoot. Me. Did I mention I didn’t bring gloves or boots?
However, the day turned around! While on my unfortunate and unpaid thirty minute break, it was announced that the school would have early release due to the weather at 12:30PM. That, my friends, in itself, is a FANTASTIC day. No teaching and no “Winter Fun Day”. Pretty fetch, right Gretch?
I decided to check my email before leaving school for the day and stumbled upon two VERY important emails (of which I will now tell you about).
#1. Voyageurs Lutheran Ministry – My home away from home…place of my childhood memories turned college-years-employer had sent me message via Program Director offering the position of Community Director at Camp Vermilion.
Now, you may be wondering: why, pray tell, is this awesome news? It so happens that earlier in November of 2011 I had a wonderful conversation with a fantastic person about my desire to work back at camp. I postulated hypothetically, that in the event that I didn’t have a summer job, I would love to go back and work at camp provided that I (A.) be the Community Director and (B.) it would be at Vermilion.
